Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Maruti Suzuki’s first electric car, the Maruti e-Vitara, at the company’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. In addition to his, PM Modi also inaugurated the next phase of the plant, which will produce hybrid battery electrodes.
This development represents a significant step for Maruti toward achieving self-reliance in green mobility, as the e-Vitara will be manufactured in India under the ‘Make in India’ initiative and exported to over 100 countries.
Notably, some European countries and Japan will serve as major markets for the e-Vitara.

Modi express his thoughts on the social media platform X and said, “Today is a special day in India’s west for self-reliance and being a hub for green mobility.”
Company has also inaugurated next phase of a plant hybrid battery electrodes with a joint venture between Toshiba, Denso and Suzuki.
Speaking about the hybrid battery said, “In a big boost to our battery ecosystem, production of hybrid battery electrodes will also commence at a manufacturing plant in Gujarat.”
Indian made electrodes ensures over 80 percent of battery manufactured in India. This move is expected to give a major boost to India’s battery ecosystem and strengthen its position a a global hub for green mobility.

Features of Maruti e-Vitara
The new Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will showcase a fresh design and will be built on the company’s innovative electric platform. This vehicle will feature an all-LED lighting setup and a new design for the alloy wheels.
The Maruti e-Vitara has a body-colored closed front grille, complemented by a black air intake on the lower bumper. Additionally, the charging point for the car is conveniently located above the front tires.
It is expected to be equipped with a high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack, delivering a driving range of approximately 500 kilometers on a single charge. This makes it ideal for both daily commuting and longer highway journeys.
The SUV is anticipated to support fast charging, allowing the battery to be replenished to 80% in under an hour, as well as regular AC charging for home use. This combination provides convenience, lowers running costs, and promotes eco-friendly mobility.
The e-Vitara will offer a 5-seater cabin featuring a digital driver display and a touchscreen infotainment system. Furthermore, this electric SUV will come equipped with six airbags, hill assist, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for added safety.
Price and Availability of e-Vitara
The price and availability of the upcoming Maruti e-Vitara will be announced at the time of its launch on September 3, 2025.
We are expecting that company will launch this car at the starting price of Rs 17 lakh to 22.5 lakh ex-showroom. This car will compete with the Mahindra XUV400, Hyundai Creta EV, Toyota Urban Cruiser EV and MG ZS EV in the segment.
