Royal Enfield’s UK division has partnered with the British Army, providing four Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 motorcycles to the Army’s Motorized Adventure (AMA) group for training exercises. These bikes were previously showcased at the Army Motorsport Day held at Thruxton Circuit on September 10.

The relationship between Royal Enfield and the British Army dates back over a century. Since 1914, the Army has utilized Royal Enfield machines, including military motorcycles, bicycles, generators, and even aircraft gun predictors during World War II.

One of the most iconic models was the Flying Flea, which played a significant role in the war and holds a special place in British Army history.

Features of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is one of the most anticipated adventure motorcycles in India, and it is now set to enter the British market. With a rugged design complemented by modern technology, this bike promises to deliver an exceptional riding experience.

Built on the all-new Sherpa 450 platform, the Himalayan 450 is designed to tackle both highways and challenging terrains with ease. In terms of aesthetics, the bike stays true to the Himalayan’s adventurous DNA. It features a tall stance, a round LED headlamp, wide handlebars, a sculpted fuel tank, split seats, and luggage mounts, making it ideal for long-distance touring and off-road adventures.

The motorcycle also boasts a brand new TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and Google Maps integration, adding a contemporary touch. Enhanced versatility is provided by various ride modes and switchable ABS.

Additionally, the Himalayan 450 is equipped with spoked wheels and dual-purpose tires, ensuring excellent grip on both paved roads and trails.

The Himalayan 450 is equipped with a 452cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 40 horsepower and 40 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and features a slip-and-assist clutch for smoother gear transitions.

For braking, the bike is fitted with front and rear disc brakes accompanied by dual-channel ABS. Notably, the ABS can be switched off for the rear wheel, allowing for better performance during off-road riding.

The suspension setup features long-travel USD front forks and a monoshock at the rear, ensuring a comfortable ride on various terrains.

The price of the British-specs Himalayan 450 is not available in the public domain. Currently, four units of the Himalayan 450 is available of the British-Army for the training purposes. We are expecting that the price of model available for the British Army will be disclosed at the time of the deal sign.
