Mahindra & Mahindra has started 2026 on a strong note by reporting a 25 percent year-on-year growth in January sales. The Indian automaker sold 63,510 vehicles during the month, highlighting sustained demand for its SUV-led portfolio in the domestic market.

The growth was primarily driven by Mahindra’s utility vehicle segment, which continues to be the brand’s strongest pillar. Popular models such as the Scorpio range, Thar, XUV700, and Bolero maintained healthy demand, reflecting the growing preference for rugged and feature-rich SUVs among Indian buyers.

Overall Performance Remains Positive

Including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and exports, Mahindra posted a solid overall performance for January 2026. The company’s consistent focus on product updates, improved supply chain efficiency, and timely deliveries has helped maintain momentum despite competitive market conditions.

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, said the company has carried forward the strong momentum from last year into January 2026. Mahindra recorded SUV sales of 63,510 units, registering a 25 percent growth, while light commercial vehicle (below 3.5T) sales rose 22 percent to 27,656 units.

Overall vehicle sales stood at 104,309 units, reflecting a healthy 24 percent year-on-year increase. He also highlighted that bookings for the XUV7XO and XEV 9S, opened on January 14, crossed 93,689 units within just four hours, generating bookings worth Rs 20,500 crore.

Meanwhile, Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Business delivered a strong performance, selling 38,484 tractors in India in January 2026, a sharp 46 percent YoY growth, underlining robust rural demand and export strength.

Strong Outlook for 2026

Mahindra officials stated that the positive sales performance reflects customer confidence in the brand and its products. With new launches, expanded production capacity, and strong order books, Mahindra is well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory through 2026, further strengthening its leadership in India’s SUV segment.

This strong start underlines Mahindra’s robust market strategy and its ability to capitalise on rising SUV demand in India.
