In February, various manufacturers sold a total of 13,669 electric cars. This is 44 percent higher compared to 9,479 units sold in the same month last year.
However, sales were slower than in January, when 18,993 EVs were sold, reflecting a month-on-month decline of 28 percent. Last month’s figures mark the lowest monthly EV sales since June 2025.
Let’s take a look at which company sold the most electric vehicles last month.
Tata sold more than 5,500 vehicles
Tata Motors sold 5,558 electric cars in February, which is 39 percent higher compared to the 4,002 units sold in the same month last year.
In the first 11 months of FY2026, the company’s total EV sales have reached 69,765 units. JSW MG Motor ranked second with 3,310 units sold in February, but this figure is 5 percent lower year-on-year compared to 3,489 units sold in February 2025. Over the last 11 months, its total EV sales have reached 47,567 units.

Mahindra reached the third position
Mahindra & Mahindra secured third place in February by selling 2,913 electric SUVs. This marks a massive 473 percent growth compared to the 508 units sold in February 2025.
Over the first 11 months, the company’s total EV sales have reached 36,673 units. VinFast sold 384 EVs, BYD sold 306 units, Hyundai sold 304 units, Kia Motors sold 295 units, and Maruti Suzuki sold 214 electric cars.
In the luxury EV segment, total sales stood at 372 units, out of which BMW led the segment with 245 units sold.
