Vida VX2 Plus Launched in India, What’s New?

Hero MotoCorp’s electric mobility brand Vida has launched its all-new Vida VX2 Plus electric scooter in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom).

This model now comes with a more powerful 4.4kWh battery pack (dual 2.2kWh batteries) paired with the same electric motor, offering more range and improved performance than the current-generation 3.4kWh battery pack.

The new electric scooter now delivers a claimed range of 187km on a full charge, a significant improvement over the 146km range offered by the existing VX2 Plus 3.4kWh model. So, let’s take a look at the detailed features of the Vida VX2 Plus.

Features of the Vida VX2 Plus

The new Vida VX2 Plus is now equipped with a 4.4kWh battery pack. To complement the larger battery setup, Vida has also introduced a 1kW portable charger, which is nearly twice as powerful as the charger supplied with the 3.4kWh version. Using this charger, the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 3 hours and 17 minutes, while a full charge takes 5 hours and 8 minutes.

Buyers also have the option of DC fast charging, which reduces the charging time to just 65 minutes for 0-80 percent and around 2 hours and 30 minutes for a complete charge. The company also claims to have expanded its charging infrastructure, with more than 6,000 fast-charging stations now operational across India.

Apart from the larger battery and faster charging capabilities, the scooter remains mechanically unchanged. It continues to draw power from a 6kW electric motor that generates 26Nm of peak torque and enables a claimed top speed of 90kmph. Riders can choose between Eco, Ride, and Sport modes, while the Boost function provides an extra burst of power for quicker overtaking. Other highlights include a 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster, smartphone connectivity, and turn-by-turn navigation support.

Will it be a Game Changer in the Indian Market? (The Times of GenZ Opinion)

Whether the Vida VX2 Plus becomes a game changer will largely depend on customer confidence. Its longer range, removable batteries, and expanding fast-charging network are strong advantages. However, stiff competition from established rivals and rising consumer expectations mean Hero will need competitive pricing, reliable after-sales service, and effective marketing to achieve widespread success.
