Made-in-India Maruti Jimny, Fronx & e Vitara Exports to Japan Cross 1 Lakh Units
Maruti Suzuki has achieved a major export milestone as cumulative shipments of its Made-in-India Jimny 5-door, Fronx, and e Vitara to Japan crossed 1 lakh units. This accomplishment highlights India’s growing role as a high-quality global manufacturing hub for foreign markets.
Shipping vehicles back to Suzuki’s home country proves that Indian manufacturing meets strict global standards. Japan has now emerged as Maruti Suzuki’s second-largest export destination by volume.
Exclusive Indian Manufacturing for Japan
The specialized export program started in August 2024 when Maruti Suzuki began shipping the Fronx crossover to Japan. The automaker added the Jimny 5-door in December 2024 and introduced its first battery electric vehicle, the e Vitara, in September 2025.
Maruti Suzuki manufactures both the Jimny 5-door and the e Vitara exclusively in India for global customers. These three models currently account for nearly all vehicles that Suzuki imports into Japan.
Boosting Suzuki’s Presence in Japan
Strong buyer demand for these Indian-built vehicles helped Suzuki Motor Corporation emerge as the top vehicle importer in Japan during the last fiscal year. Japan represents one of the most demanding automotive markets in the world.
Achieving such high export numbers there showcases local engineering quality and manufacturing precision. Maruti Suzuki continues expanding its global footprint, shipping vehicles to nearly 120 overseas markets through Suzuki’s international network.

Maruti Suzuki currently accounts for more than 50 percent of total passenger vehicle exports from India. The success of the Jimny, Fronx, and e Vitara shows how the India-Japan automotive partnership has evolved over time.
Indian production facilities now supply advanced petrol and electric vehicles directly to mature overseas markets. This export milestone reinforces India’s rising status as a major global center for automotive and EV production.
