New Hero Impulse Spotted in Production-Ready Form Ahead of Launch
Hero MotoCorp appears ready to bring a new entry-level dual-sport motorcycle to India. The production-ready bike has now surfaced ahead of its expected launch, nearly a decade after the original Hero Impulse left the market.
The new motorcycle follows a simpler and more approachable approach than the larger Xpulse range. Hero has not confirmed the name yet, but the design and mechanical layout have raised expectations that the company could revive the popular Impulse name for this upcoming motorcycle.
What We Are Expecting From Hero Impulse?
The upcoming Hero dual-sport motorcycle is expected to focus on easy riding and everyday practicality. It could use a 19-inch front wheel, which should offer a more approachable setup than the 21-inch wheel used on the Xpulse models.
The bike could also get suspension travel and ground clearance in the 180-200mm range, while the seat height may remain around 800mm. Hero could equip it with single-channel ABS to keep the motorcycle simple and suitable for both road and light off-road use. A basic LCD instrument console is expected instead of a colour TFT display.
However, LED indicators could add a modern touch. The motorcycle is likely to use an air/oil-cooled engine related to the 163.2cc unit from the Xtreme 160R 4V. That engine produces 16.9hp and 14.6Nm in the Xtreme, but Hero could retune it for the dual-sport application. The bike could also feature both electric and kick starters.
Expected Price and Rivals
The upcoming Hero dual-sport motorcycle could be priced around Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it below the Xpulse 200 4V. Its potential rivals could include the Hero Xpulse 200 4V and other affordable dual-sport motorcycles. Hero has not announced the official price yet.
