VinFast Takes Big Step Into India’s Electric Scooter Market With 50+ Dealers

VinFast is preparing for its next major expansion in India, this time targeting the country’s massive electric two-wheeler market. The Vietnamese EV maker has signed Letters of Intent (LOIs) with more than 50 electric two-wheeler dealer partners across 15 states and Union Territories.

The planned network will cover 34 cities and marks VinFast’s first dedicated distribution network for electric two-wheelers in India. The company entered the Indian market in 2025 with electric cars and has since shown electric scooters and patented some of their designs in India.

The latest dealer partnerships indicate that its electric scooter plans are now moving closer to reality.

VinFast Plans 50+ Electric Two-Wheeler Showrooms

Under the new LOIs, VinFast and its dealer partners plan to establish more than 50 electric two-wheeler showrooms across 34 cities. The network will cover 15 states and Union Territories across different regions of the country.

In North India, the planned network includes Delhi NCR, Rajasthan and Punjab. The company also plans outlets in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh in Central India. Maharashtra and Gujarat will form part of the Western India expansion.

In South India, VinFast plans to target Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. The proposed network will also cover West Bengal and Odisha in the East.

VinFast says these markets have large two-wheeler customer bases and significant potential for electric mobility. The company also plans to develop charging infrastructure and strengthen after-sales support alongside its retail expansion.

Viper and Rasad Could Form Part of VinFast’s India Line-up

VinFast has not yet confirmed the electric two-wheelers that it will sell in India. However, the company has previously showcased electric scooters at the Auto Expo and filed design patents for some models in India.

The Viper and Rasad scooters could therefore become part of the future India portfolio, although VinFast has not officially confirmed these models for the Indian market.

The company has also not announced their battery specifications, range, prices, booking dates or customer delivery timelines. The new dealer agreements should therefore be viewed as a major distribution-network development rather than an official electric scooter launch.

India’s Electric Two-Wheeler Market Offers Huge Potential

VinFast is entering a market dominated by established manufacturers and fast-growing electric two-wheeler startups. According to the company, India recorded 21.41 million two-wheeler registrations during fiscal year 2025-26, while electric vehicles accounted for 6.54 percent of these registrations.

This relatively low electric share leaves considerable room for further electrification. VinFast wants to use its planned retail network, charging infrastructure and after-sales support to build a presence in this segment.

The company will face strong competition once it launches its electric two-wheelers. Bajaj, TVS, Hero, Suzuki and Yamaha already have a strong presence in India’s two-wheeler market, while EV-focused brands such as Ather and River are also expanding their products and retail networks.

VinFast’s challenge will be to establish a competitive price, strong range and reliable service network while building customer trust as a new entrant in India’s electric scooter market.

VinFast’s India Two-Wheeler Plans

The latest LOIs represent an important step in VinFast’s Indian expansion. The company has already entered the electric car market and now plans to add electric two-wheelers to its India strategy.

For now, VinFast has confirmed the dealer network but has not announced an official launch date or the final scooter lineup. The next major announcement is likely to reveal which models will enter India, along with their specifications, pricing and availability.

With more than 50 prospective dealer partners across 34 cities, VinFast is clearly preparing a wider retail footprint for its electric two-wheelers. The planned network could give the company a significant starting point when it officially launches its scooters in India.
