A New Chapter Begins For KTM

Production had come to a standstill in December 2024, as KTM entered self-administration due to mounting financial stress, supply chain disruptions, and declining global sales.

But with the Austrian court officially greenlighting KTM’s restructuring plan, the company is now gearing up to resume manufacturing of motorcycles, spare parts, accessories, and riding gear across all its European plants.

 Bajaj Auto Becomes Majority Stakeholder

In a decisive move, Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV (BAIHBV)—a wholly owned subsidiary of Bajaj—secured a €800 million (₹7,765 crore) debt financing package to acquire a majority stake in Pierer Mobility AG, KTM’s parent company. This acquisition not only stabilizes KTM’s finances but also strengthens Bajaj’s global footprint in the premium motorcycle segment.

“I am relieved and grateful that we have finally closed this challenging chapter. Our priority now is to ramp up production by the end of July and reposition the group for the future,” said Gottfried Neumeister, CEO of Pierer Mobility AG.

KTM’s production restart isn’t just a return to business—it’s a bold reboot. With Bajaj’s backing and a fresh leadership vision, the Austrian marque is poised to reclaim its place in the global motorcycle arena.
