Tata Motors has once again shifted the gears of the Indian commercial vehicle industry. In a major move toward sustainable logistics, the homegrown automaker officially launched the Tata Intra EV Pickup today, priced at a competitive Rs 11.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
As India’s first high-yield electric pickup, the Intra EV is positioned to bridge the gap between last-mile delivery and heavy-duty regional transport. This launch marks a significant milestone in Tata’s “Green Pro” initiative, expanding a portfolio that already includes the iconic Ace EV and a growing fleet of electric buses across major Indian cities.
With the Tata Intra EV Pickup India launch, the company is targeting a 20% reduction in operating costs for small business owners and fleet operators.
Tata Intra EV Pickup: A New Benchmark for Commercial EVs
The Intra EV is not just a battery-swapped version of its diesel sibling; it is built on a sophisticated, purpose-built electric architecture. While it retains the rugged DNA of the “Intra” brand, the EV avatar is designed specifically for high-frequency urban and semi-urban duty cycles.
From e-commerce giants and cold-chain logistics to dairy distribution and waste management, the Intra EV caters to a diverse range of business use cases.
Its arrival signals that the electric pickup truck India 2026 market is moving beyond “experimental” and into “mainstream” territory, offering a silent, vibration-free, and highly profitable alternative to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
Battery, Range, and Performance Specs
At the heart of the Tata Intra EV is a robust powertrain designed to handle the unpredictable nature of Indian roads and weather conditions.
Battery Pack: It features a 28.2 kWh IP67-rated high-energy-density battery, ensuring protection against dust and water ingress.
Certified Range: The vehicle offers an ARAI-certified range of 211 km on a single charge, making it ideal for multiple trips within a city.
Electric Motor: The 72 kW (approx. 97 hp) motor generates a peak torque of 230 Nm, providing the instantaneous “pull” needed when the vehicle is fully loaded.
Fast Charging: Time is money in the logistics business. The Intra EV supports CCS2 fast charging, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in just 55 minutes.
Gradeability: With 23% gradeability, this Tata EV truck can comfortably navigate steep flyovers and basement ramps even under a full load.
Payload and Practicality: Built for Business
The most impressive figure in the spec sheet is the 1,750 kg payload capacity. This puts the Intra EV at the top of its class, rivaling many diesel pickups.
The vehicle offers a massive cargo deck measuring approximately 10 feet 2 inches in length. This long load body is a strategic advantage for businesses transporting voluminous goods like FMCG products, furniture, or gas cylinders.
The heavy-duty leaf spring suspension has been reinforced to balance the weight of the battery pack while maintaining the high payload efficiency that Indian transporters demand.

Advanced Features and Driver Technology
Tata Motors has paid significant attention to “Driver Productivity,” recognizing that a comfortable driver is a safe and efficient one.
Modern Cabin & Ergonomics
The Intra EV features a “walk-through” cabin with car-like interior aesthetics. The inclusion of Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) reduces steering effort, making it easier to maneuver through congested city lanes.
Fleet Edge Integration
Every Intra EV comes integrated with Tata Motors Fleet Edge. This telematics suite allows fleet owners to track their vehicles in real-time, monitor battery health, and receive predictive maintenance alerts.
Enhanced Safety
Safety is bolstered by an Electronic Braking System (EBS) and a crash-tested cabin. Furthermore, the vehicle offers three levels of regenerative braking, which not only helps in slowing down the vehicle safely but also recovers energy to extend the real-world driving range.

Price and Market Rivals
At Rs 11.95 lakh, the Tata Intra EV is priced at a premium over diesel pickups like the Mahindra Supro or Ashok Leyland Dost. However, the “EV premium” is expected to be recovered within 18–24 months through fuel and maintenance savings.
While the Mahindra Supro Profit Truck and Ashok Leyland Dost remain the primary volume drivers in the diesel segment, the Intra EV currently stands in a league of its own regarding payload-to-price ratio in the electric category.
