Tata Motors is set to take a major step in strengthening India’s premium car manufacturing ecosystem by beginning local assembly of the Range Rover Evoque. This move underlines the company’s long-term commitment to localisation and cost optimisation, while also improving availability of luxury SUVs for Indian buyers.
By assembling the Evoque on Indian soil, Tata Motors aims to make the globally popular Range Rover brand more competitive in one of the world’s fastest-growing premium car markets.

New Chennai Facility to Play a Key Role
The local assembly will take place at Tata Motors’ newly developed manufacturing facility near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This plant has been designed to support modern production standards and will initially focus on CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly operations.
The Chennai unit is expected to become a strategic hub for Jaguar Land Rover’s India operations in the coming years.
What Local Assembly Means for Buyers?
With local assembly, the Range Rover Evoque could see improved supply and potentially more competitive pricing compared to fully imported models.
