Hyundai Motor Company is currently working on the updated i20 for the Indian market. Recently, the 2026 Hyundai i20 was spotted during testing.
In the spied images, the i20 can be seen towing a large trailer, showcasing the power of the updated model. The prototype is covered with stickers, but some changes are already noticeable. Reports suggest that this will be the fourth generation of the i20, which is set to be launched in the Indian market next year.
Now, let’s discuss the updated features that will be available in the 2026 Hyundai i20.
2026 Hyundai i20: Design
Hyundai previously sold the i20 Active in India, which featured higher ground clearance. However, when the updated i20 was introduced, this version was notably absent from the lineup.
Recent reports indicate that the company is now testing the i20 Active and plans to launch it in the coming months. In terms of design, the new model differs significantly from the standard version.
It features a more athletic front with a sportier hood design and a modern LED lighting setup, including connected daytime running lights (DRLs).
Additionally, the hatchback boasts an attractive new octagonal front grille in black. Other notable features include LED taillights, a shark-fin antenna, electrically adjustable outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs), and stylish alloy wheels paired with wider tires.

2026 Hyundai i20: Powertrain
We expect that the powertrain of the hatchback will remain unchanged, offering the same engine options as the current generation model.
Customers will have the choice of a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, and possibly even a self-charging hybrid engine.
However, it is still unclear whether the company will introduce the hybrid version of the car in the Indian market. For transmission, this engine will be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).
2026 Hyundai i20: Cabin
The cabin features a blackout dashboard and seats. It is also equipped with a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, a semi-digital driver display, and a digital entertainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
The 2026 Hyundai i20 will come with a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) to enhance the safety of the hatchback. It will include six airbags, hill hold assist, ABS, and more.
