BYD eMAX 7 Comfort Variant Launched in India at Rs 27.90 Lakh

BYD India has strategically revised the variant lineup of its flagship electric MPV, introducing a new entry-level option to attract premium family buyers. The brand has renamed and repositioned its base configuration, introducing the BYD eMAX 7 Comfort variant India market at a highly competitive starting price of Rs 27.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

This strategic update is part of a broader pricing and variant adjustment across BYD’s entire EV portfolio in the country, aimed at lowering the entry barrier for its popular 7-seater EV India lineup.

Optimized Range and Performance

The newly introduced Comfort trim bridges the gap between the existing entry-level Premium trim and the top-tier Superior variant.

Unlike typical base models that compromise on battery capacity, the BYD eMAX 7 Comfort variant India comes equipped with the larger 71.8 kWh battery pack—the exact same unit that powers the top-spec Superior trim.

Paired with a front-axle-mounted electric motor producing 161 bhp, this setup delivers a highly efficient driving experience. The BYD eMAX 7 range is officially claimed to reach up to approximately 485 km on a single charge depending on the seating configuration, ensuring long-distance highway cruising capability without range anxiety. Crucially, BYD continues to offer the Comfort variant in both practical 6-seater and 7-seater cabin layouts.

Feature-Loaded Practicality

Despite its positioning as the new entry point, the Comfort trim does not skimp on modern premium features, offering an excellent balance of value and utility. Key interior and convenience highlights include:

  • Full digital instrument cluster

  • Automatic climate control with rear AC vents

  • Integrated cabin air purifier

  • Cruise control for relaxed highway driving

  • Comprehensive connected car technology suite

  • Front and rear parking sensors

Market Competition and Outlook

The revised BYD eMAX 7 price structure allows the vehicle to cement its unique position in the growing electric MPV India segment. While it faces no direct, purely electric rivals in its exact price bracket, it strongly competes against established premium internal combustion and hybrid alternatives, most notably the Toyota Innova Hycross.

With a sub-Rs 30 lakh starting price, a massive driving range, and three-row practicality, the eMAX 7 Comfort variant presents a highly compelling case for eco-conscious buyers looking for an upscale family hauler ahead of upcoming electric MPV launches from rival manufacturers.
