2028 Hyundai Santa Fe Spotted Testing: Fresh Design, and Upgraded Cabin
Hyundai is planing to launch its 2028 Hyundai Santa Fe and in recent development this model has been spotted testing ahead of its global debut, offering an early look at the updated version of Hyundai’s flagship SUV.
Although the current-generation model was introduced recently, Hyundai appears to be working on a major mid-cycle refresh. Spy images suggest noticeable design updates along with improvements to the cabin, technology, and driving experience.
The facelift is expected to make the Santa Fe more competitive in global markets and strengthen its position in the premium three-row SUV segment.

2028 Hyundai Santa Fe: Expected Design
The test of the 2028 Hyundai Santa Fe is heavily camouflaged, but a few styling changes are already visible. The updated model is expected to feature a redesigned front grille, new LED headlamps, revised daytime running lights, and a sportier front bumper.
At the rear, Hyundai may reposition the tail lamps higher on the tailgate for a cleaner look. The SUV is also likely to receive newly designed alloy wheels, refreshed bumpers, and updated lighting elements, giving it a more premium and modern appearance.
Expected Powertrain
Hyundai is expected to continue offering the existing engine options with minor updates for improved efficiency and performance. International markets are likely to get 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 2.5-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrains.
The company is also reportedly developing an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) version for selected markets. Improved engine tuning and transmission updates could deliver smoother performance and better fuel economy.
Expected Cabin and Features
Inside, the facelifted Santa Fe is expected to receive a refreshed dashboard with better-quality materials and updated technology. Hyundai could introduce a larger infotainment touchscreen, a revised digital instrument cluster, and its latest connected car software.
Features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging, premium audio system, dual-zone climate control, and Level 2 ADAS are expected to remain. Hyundai may also add new safety and convenience features with the facelift.
2028 Hyundai Santa Fe: Expected Price and Rivals
If launched in India, the 2028 Hyundai Santa Fe facelift is expected to be priced from around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with premium SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Nissan X-Trail.
Will It Come to India?
Hyundai has not officially confirmed the India launch of the updated Santa Fe. However, the company has been expanding its premium SUV portfolio, making India a potential market for the facelift in the future.
If introduced, the Santa Fe facelift could appeal to buyers looking for a premium three-row SUV with modern styling, advanced technology, hybrid powertrain options, and a comfortable cabin.
It would further strengthen Hyundai’s presence in India’s premium SUV segment.
