Tata Avinya Premium Electric SUV Launch In 2027: Expected Price, Range, Features And Details

Tata Motors is preparing to enter the premium electric vehicle segment with its most ambitious EV project yet, the Tata Avinya. The upcoming electric SUV is expected to arrive in India in 2027 and will mark Tata’s move beyond mass-market EVs into a more premium space.

The first production model, expected to be called Avinya X, will compete with upcoming premium electric SUVs from global and Indian manufacturers.

Tata Avinya Launch Timeline

The Tata Avinya was first showcased as a futuristic electric vehicle concept, but the production timeline has changed several times due to platform-related challenges. Tata Motors has now confirmed that the first Avinya model will arrive in 2027. The upcoming EV will be manufactured at Tata’s new facility in Panapakkam, Tamil Nadu.

Unlike Tata’s existing EV lineup, which includes models like the Nexon EV and Harrier EV, the Avinya range will focus on premium customers looking for advanced technology, luxury features, and a futuristic design.

New Platform And Technology

Initially, Tata planned to develop the Avinya range using Jaguar Land Rover’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA). However, the company has now changed its strategy and will use the Chery-JLR Freelander platform for the first Avinya model. This move is expected to reduce development time and make the premium EV more competitive in terms of cost.

Tata Motors is expected to modify the platform with its own software, electronics, and India-specific engineering to suit local conditions. The company aims to offer a premium EV experience while maintaining competitive pricing compared with global luxury electric SUVs.

Expected Design And Dimensions

The production-spec Tata Avinya is expected to retain several design elements from the concept model. It could feature a futuristic SUV-crossover silhouette with a sleek roofline, aerodynamic body panels, LED lighting elements, flush door handles, and a minimalist exterior design.

The cabin is expected to focus on luxury and space, with a lounge-like interior layout, premium materials, advanced connectivity features, and a clutter-free dashboard design. The dedicated electric platform could also provide a flat floor, improving passenger comfort and cabin space.

Expected Battery, Range And Performance

Although Tata Motors has not revealed official specifications, the Avinya is expected to come with a large battery pack designed for long-distance travel. The premium electric SUV could offer a driving range of more than 500 km on a single charge, depending on the battery configuration.

The vehicle is also expected to support fast charging technology along with advanced battery management systems to improve efficiency and charging convenience.

Premium Features And Safety

Being Tata’s flagship electric offering, the Avinya is expected to come loaded with advanced features. Expected highlights could include:

  • Large touchscreen infotainment system
  • Advanced connected car technology
  • Premium audio system
  • ADAS safety features
  • Multiple airbags
  • 360-degree camera
  • Advanced driver assistance systems

The SUV will likely be positioned as a technology-focused electric vehicle aimed at buyers looking for a luxury experience.

Expected Price And Rivals

The Tata Avinya is expected to be priced significantly higher than Tata’s current EV models. The estimated price could start around Rs 40 lakh and may go beyond Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on variants and features.

Once launched, it could compete with premium electric SUVs such as upcoming models from Mahindra, MG, BYD, Hyundai, and other global EV manufacturers entering India’s luxury EV market.

Why Tata Avinya Matters For Tata Motors?

The Avinya represents a major shift in Tata Motors’ EV strategy. While the company currently dominates India’s affordable electric vehicle segment, the new premium EV brand will help Tata challenge international players and strengthen its position in the growing luxury electric vehicle market.

With increasing competition from Mahindra’s premium EV lineup and global brands, the Avinya will play a crucial role in Tata’s ambition to become a major player in India’s next-generation electric mobility landscape.
