2028 Volvo XC60 Revealed With Bigger Battery

Volvo has officially unveiled the updated 2028 Volvo XC60 with major styling and mechanical upgrades. The biggest change centers on its heavily revised plug-in hybrid setup. Volvo fitted a much larger battery pack to boost daily EV driving.

Consequently, the new Volvo XC60 hybrid delivers an estimated 126km electric-only range in the US testing cycle. Drivers can now complete daily commutes entirely on clean electric power.

2028 Volvo XC60: Exterior Design

The Volvo XC60 2028 gets a refreshed front bumper with a narrower grille and redesigned headlights. Volvo also updated the signature Thor’s Hammer daytime running lights. A reworked rear section, fresh alloy wheel designs, and a new Heather Bronze paint option complete the exterior refresh.

2028 Volvo XC60: PHEV Powertrain and Range

Under the bonnet, the Volvo XC60 PHEV keeps its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. However, Volvo upgraded the electric motor and battery. The overall Volvo XC60 battery capacity increases from 15kWh to 38kWh, while total output remains at 455hp.

This huge battery upgrade enables the impressive 126km Volvo XC60 electric range in US testing. Note that this estimated figure applies to the US cycle, not an Indian certification.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the cabin features a revised 11.2-inch central touchscreen with updated display graphics. Volvo introduced higher-quality upholstery materials and fresh interior color schemes. Tech features include Google’s Gemini AI integration and over-the-air software updates.

2028 Volvo XC60: Safety Features

New Volvo XC60 features highlight driver assistance. Safety tech includes automated emergency steering, improved collision avoidance, a 360-degree camera with 3D view, and cyclist detection for safer rear door opening.

Launch and Price

Sales will begin early next year globally. US prices should stay close to the current model. Volvo has not announced an official India launch date yet.
