Kia Launches Carens CNG and Clavis CNG in India Starting at Rs 12.12 Lakh

Kia India has expanded its family MPV portfolio by launching factory-fitted CNG versions of the Carens and Carens Clavis. Prices start at Rs 12.12 lakh for the Carens CNG, while the Carens Clavis CNG opens at Rs 12.39 lakh (ex-showroom).

These new three-row MPVs target budget-conscious buyers seeking significantly lower running costs without compromising on space, practicality, and comfort. Both models introduce several engineering updates to seamlessly accommodate the factory CNG kit.

Kia Carens CNG and Carens Clavis CNG: Price and Variants

The Kia Carens CNG comes exclusively in a single Premium (O) variant priced at Rs 12.12 lakh. Meanwhile, the Carens Clavis CNG offers two options: HTE CNG at Rs 12.39 lakh and HTE (O) CNG at Rs 13.35 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). These factory-fitted CNG variants cost approximately Rs 1 lakh more than their corresponding petrol-manual counterparts.

Engine and Gearbox

Both MPVs utilize a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired solely with a 6-speed manual transmission. In CNG mode, this motor produces 96hp and 123Nm of torque, which is lower than the standard petrol output.

Kia has not officially announced certified fuel-efficiency figures yet, but industry reports suggest an expected mileage of around 22–25km/kg.

CNG Tank, Boot Space and Features

A 60-litre CNG tank sits under the boot floor, reducing luggage capacity from 216 litres to 116 litres while retaining the underbody spare wheel. Kia retuned the suspension, upgraded the front disc brakes, and recalibrated the engine for CNG operation. Key feature additions include a CNG fuel switch, a 4.2-inch colour TFT display with Distance-to-Empty readout, and an improved third-row seat-back recline angle.
