Maruti Suzuki Targets 1 Million Green Vehicle Sales in FY27: Launches Automatic S-CNG Range

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, has set an ambitious target to sell 1 million (10 lakh) green vehicles during the 2026–27 financial year (FY27). Driven by rising crude oil prices and expanding eco-friendly powertrains, the company is accelerating its ‘Auto Green Mission’.

The new target encompasses Maruti Suzuki’s growing portfolio of compressed natural gas (CNG), strong-hybrid, and upcoming electric vehicles (EVs), reinforcing its commitment to sustainable mobility across India.

Target Raised to 10 Lakh Units

Maruti Suzuki previously projected sales of 8 to 9 lakh green vehicles for the financial year. However, strong market demand and positive buyer sentiment prompted the automaker to raise its target to 1 million units in FY27.

Senior Executive Officer of Marketing & Sales, Partho Banerjee, confirmed that structural tailwinds—including rising fuel costs and broader powertrain availability are encouraging car buyers to make the switch to cleaner alternatives.

Automatic S-CNG Lineup Launched

To drive this adoption, Maruti Suzuki introduced automatic transmission options across its S-CNG range. The new automatic S-CNG lineup includes popular models such as the Swift, Dzire, and Baleno.

Previously, CNG models were available exclusively with manual gearboxes, leading many urban buyers to choose petrol automatics for city driving. The new Dzire automatic S-CNG leads the efficiency benchmark with an impressive fuel economy of 36.47km/kg.

Market Dominance and Production Expansion

Maruti Suzuki currently dominates India’s CNG passenger vehicle market with a 70 percent market share. By pairing automatic convenience with S-CNG efficiency alongside strong-hybrid and EV models, the carmaker aims to cover every major price point in the green vehicle segment.

The company is actively scaling up production capacity across its manufacturing plants to meet expected demand ahead of the festive season.
