Tata Aeris Set to Make Its Way to India? What We Know So Far

Tata Motors has dropped a fresh teaser of its upcoming Tata Aeris sedan for the Indian market. Actually, this is not a completely new SUV. Tata is changing the name of the Tata Tigor to Tata Aeris.

In other words, Tata is planning to launch the Tigor facelift in India under a new name. The full details, variants and prices will be announced on September 25, 2026.

New Design in Tata Aeris?

The first teaser gives a quick glimpse of the Tata Aeris front and rear sections. Tata has also shown the car in a new purple colour. The full design remains hidden for now, but the teaser reveals several styling changes.

The Aeris could get slim LED headlamps with LED DRLs, along with LED fog lamps on the bumper. It may also feature a sharper grille and redesigned front and rear bumpers. The rear could get new LED tail lamps, while the car is expected to ride on fresh 15-inch alloy wheels.

The Aeris will continue with its compact notchback body shape. Tata will use the same basic platform as the Tiago and Tigor, but the updated sedan should receive new body panels to give it a fresh and more modern appearance.

Updated Cabin for the Tata Aeris

New Aeris could get several new features inside the cabin. Tata may offer a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a digital driver display and a 360-degree camera.

The sedan could also come with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, cruise control and automatic climate control. Other expected features include ventilated front seats, rear AC vents, Type-C charging ports, auto-folding ORVMs, push-button start and keyless entry.

For safety, the Aeris is expected to get six airbags, ABS, EBD and ISOFIX child-seat mounts as standard. However, Tata is not expected to offer ADAS with the updated sedan.

Will Use Tata Tigor Engine

The Aeris is expected to retain the 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. It could deliver around 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. Tata may offer this engine with a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT gearbox. A factory-fitted CNG version could also join the lineup. The CNG engine may produce around 76 PS and 97 Nm, with 5-speed manual and AMT options.

Tata could also launch an Aeris.ev at a later stage. Some reports suggest that the electric sedan may use the Tiago EV’s 19.2kWh and 24kWh battery packs. However, Tata has not confirmed the battery capacity, motor output or driving range of the upcoming electric model.

Expected Price and Rivals

The Aeris is expected to cost around Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom. It will continue to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze.
