Tata Aeris Sedan Launched in India: Design, Engine, Mileage, CNG, Features and Price
Tata Motors launched the new Tata Aeris compact sedan in India on September 25, 2026. The model replaces the Tigor and brings updated styling, a redesigned cabin, new features and petrol-CNG powertrain options.
The Tata Aeris starts at Rs. 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom), while the CNG version starts at Rs. 6.29 lakh. The company offers manual and AMT gearbox options, along with a factory-fitted twin-cylinder CNG system.
The new sedan targets buyers who want a compact family car with modern features, practical boot space and multiple fuel choices. Tata has also added several safety features, including six airbags as standard.
Design and Dimensions
The Tata Aeris gets a refreshed exterior with several design elements inspired by the Tiago. At the front, it features slim LED headlamps, eyebrow-style LED daytime running lights and a redesigned bumper with C-shaped elements.
The side profile retains the compact sedan’s familiar notchback shape, while select variants get 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear features revised tail-lamp graphics, a redesigned bumper and a sculpted boot lid.
The Aeris measures 3,995mm in length, 1,684mm in width and 1,532mm in height. It also gets a 2,450mm wheelbase and 170mm ground clearance. The petrol version offers 419 litres of boot space.
Engine, Mileage and CNG Option
Tata continues to offer the Aeris with a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. This unit produces around 85hp and 113Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT gearbox.
The company also offers a factory-fitted iCNG version with a twin-cylinder setup. In CNG mode, the engine produces around 74.5hp and 96.5Nm of torque. Tata offers manual and AMT options for the CNG variant as well.
The twin-cylinder layout helps preserve boot space, with around 227 litres available. Tata has not yet confirmed the official ARAI-certified mileage figures for the Aeris, so buyers should wait for the company’s final figures.
Cabin and Features
The Tata Aeris gets a redesigned cabin with a dual-tone interior theme and a dashboard inspired by the updated Tiago. Key highlights include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument display and a new two-spoke steering wheel. The sedan also offers wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and steering-mounted controls, depending on the variant.
Other available features include ventilated front seats, cruise control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat and electrically adjustable ORVMs. The cabin also gets practical storage spaces and a rear armrest on select variants. Automatic versions feature a rotary drive selector. These updates give the Aeris a more modern cabin than the outgoing Tigor.
Tata Aeris Safety Features
Tata has equipped the Aeris with a wide range of safety features. Six airbags come as standard across the range, along with three-point seatbelts and reminders for all occupants. The sedan also gets ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.
Higher variants add electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and rain-sensing wipers. A 360-degree camera with a blind-view monitor helps drivers check their surroundings while parking or manoeuvring in tight spaces.
Some variants also offer a dashcam and additional stability-related systems. However, buyers should check the exact variant-wise feature list before booking, as Tata does not offer every safety feature across the entire range.
Price and Rivals
The Tata Aeris starts at Rs. 5.29 lakh, while the iCNG range starts at Rs. 6.29 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). It rivals the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze in India’s compact sedan segment. Bookings have opened, and deliveries are scheduled to begin on October 11, 2026.
