Suzuki e SKY Electric Car Launched in Japan
Suzuki has launched its first mini passenger electric car, the Suzuki e SKY , in Japan as the company expands its pure EV portfolio. The new electric car uses Suzuki’s dedicated HEARTECT-e platform and focuses on compact dimensions, low energy consumption and easy urban driving.
The e SKY gets a 26kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery and offers a claimed 310km WLTC range on a single charge.
Suzuki has designed the EV around its lightweight engineering philosophy, while the compact dimensions make it suitable for crowded city roads. The company will start sales in Japan from November 16, 2026, with overseas markets also under consideration.

Suzuki e SKY: Design and Dimensions
The Suzuki e SKY follows the compact proportions required for Japan’s kei-car category. It measures 3,395mm in length and 1,475mm in width, making it considerably smaller than conventional hatchbacks.
The design combines a familiar Suzuki appearance with EV-specific elements. It uses a dedicated HEARTECT-e platform that places the battery under the floor.
This layout helps Suzuki create a spacious cabin despite the car’s compact exterior dimensions. The e SKY also gets an eAxle and regenerative braking system. Its minimum turning radius stands at 4.4 metres, which should make it easier to manoeuvre through narrow city streets and parking areas.
Battery, Range and Performance
The Suzuki e SKY uses a 26kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery and an electric powertrain developed specifically for the mini-EV platform.
Suzuki claims a 310km WLTC range from a single charge. The car also records an energy consumption figure of 97Wh/km, which Suzuki describes as a class-leading figure in Japan’s mini-EV segment. The battery sits underneath the floor and uses cooling control to support durability and stable operation.
Suzuki has not positioned the e SKY as a high-performance EV. Instead, the car focuses on smooth acceleration, quiet operation and efficient daily driving. The company has not disclosed the maximum power and torque figures in its initial announcement.
Features and Practicality
The e SKY comes with a dedicated EV architecture that integrates the electric motor, inverter, reduction gear and battery into an efficient package. Suzuki has focused on reducing weight and improving energy efficiency while maintaining cabin space.
The underfloor battery layout also helps provide a comfortable seating position and usable interior space. Regenerative braking forms part of the EV’s efficiency package and helps recover energy during deceleration. The car’s compact dimensions and 4.4-metre turning radius further support its urban-focused character.
Suzuki has developed the e SKY as an easy transition for customers moving from petrol-powered cars to EVs, with smooth acceleration and reduced cabin noise as key characteristics.
Suzuki e SKY Price and India Launch
The Suzuki e SKY starts at JPY 2.12 million, while the G variant costs JPY 2.39 million and the X variant JPY 2.79 million in Japan. After the applicable CEV subsidy, the base model’s effective price can fall to around JPY 1.55 million, or roughly Rs. 9.50 lakh.
Japan sales begin on November 16, 2026. Suzuki expects overseas launches in markets such as Europe and the UK from 2027. There is no confirmed India launch yet.
