Noida Airport Joins Hands With ePlane for Electric Flying Taxis
Noida International Airport has taken a major step towards bringing electric flying taxis to the Delhi-NCR region. The airport has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chennai-based The ePlane Company to develop the infrastructure and operational framework required for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The partnership will focus on vertiports, charging stations, airport operating procedures and regulatory coordination. The two companies also plan to support proof-of-concept trials at the airport.
The initiative could eventually enable airport-to-airport travel, intra-city air taxi services and emergency air ambulance operations using ePlane’s upcoming e200X aircraft.
Noida Airport to Develop Vertiports and Charging Stations
Under the new partnership, Noida International Airport will provide space within its premises for proof-of-concept trials, vertiports and charging infrastructure for eVTOL aircraft.
The airport and ePlane will also work on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for electric flying operations. These procedures will help integrate eVTOL aircraft into airport operations while maintaining required safety standards.
The partnership will also cover Vertiport Management Systems and other operational processes needed to support future electric air taxi services.

ePlane e200X to Power Future Air Taxi Services
The ePlane Company plans to use its e200X electric aircraft for future flying taxi operations. The company unveiled its full-scale e200X PT-01 prototype in July 2026 and is currently working towards testing the aircraft.
The planned services could include airport-to-airport connectivity, intra-city transportation and emergency air ambulance operations. This could make the e200X particularly useful for Delhi-NCR, where road congestion often makes airport and inter-city journeys time-consuming.
The ePlane Company is targeting commercial operations around 2028, subject to aircraft development, testing and regulatory approvals.
ePlane and Noida Airport to Work With Regulators
The partnership also includes cooperation with aviation regulators, Air Traffic Control authorities and state governments. The companies will work on the safety and operational framework required for eVTOL flights.
The ePlane Company will seek the necessary approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). The partners will also work on airspace integration and AI-assisted fleet scheduling systems that could connect with future smart-city infrastructure.
Flying Taxis Could Transform Delhi-NCR Connectivity
The partnership comes as India explores advanced air mobility as a potential solution for urban congestion. Delhi-NCR has some of the country’s busiest roads, making faster airport-to-city and city-to-city transportation a potential use case for eVTOL aircraft.
The proposed system could eventually connect Noida International Airport with other locations in the Delhi-NCR region. However, actual routes, passenger fares and commercial flight schedules have not yet been announced.
Noida International Airport started commercial passenger operations in June 2026 and currently has one runway and one passenger terminal. The airport’s first phase can handle up to 12 million passengers annually, while its long-term masterplan provides for capacity of more than 70 million passengers.

When Will Noida Flying Taxis Start?
Electric flying taxis are still in the development and testing stage. The latest MoU does not mean that commercial e200X flights will begin immediately.
The ePlane Company still needs to complete aircraft testing and secure the required regulatory approvals before carrying passengers. The company is currently targeting 2028 for commercial operations.
The agreement with Noida International Airport is therefore an important infrastructure step. By developing vertiports, charging stations and operating procedures alongside aircraft development, ePlane and the airport aim to prepare the ground for electric air taxi services in India.
