BYD Atto 2 Spotted Testing in India Ahead of Launch, Expected to Rival Creta Electric
BYD appears to be gearing up for another product launch in India as the upcoming BYD Atto 2 has been spotted undergoing road tests. The midsize SUV is expected to make its India debut later this year and will strengthen the Chinese EV maker’s growing presence in the country’s electric vehicle market.
The test mule suggests that the production model will retain the design seen in international markets, featuring a modern and aerodynamic exterior.
Modern Styling With Premium Cabin
The BYD Atto 2 is expected to feature a sleek front fascia with connected LED headlights, a sculpted bumper, black body cladding, and stylish petal-shaped alloy wheels. While the rear section of the test vehicle remained camouflaged, the India-spec model is likely to feature LED taillights connected by a light bar along with silver-finished design elements.
Inside, the SUV is expected to get an all-black cabin with a minimalist dashboard, a large floating touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and a host of connected car features. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are also likely to be offered to enhance safety and convenience.
Electric and Hybrid Powertrains Expected
Globally, the BYD Atto 2 is available with an all-electric powertrain offering a claimed driving range of up to 430km. Reports also suggest that a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version with a combined driving range of up to 1,000km could eventually be introduced.
Once launched, the BYD Atto 2 will compete with models such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Sierra EV, and other premium midsize electric SUVs, giving buyers another option in India’s fast-growing EV segment.
