BYD has recently launched its BYD Yangwang U9, and the track edition model has officially set a new world record for the fastest electric vehicle (EV).

The U9 achieved a top speed of 472.43 km/h on the Testing Papenburg track in Germany. This record was previously held by the Apark OWL hypercar in 2024, also on the same track.

Visually, the U9 Track Edition resembles the standard model, but its combination of technology and design elevates electric supercars to a whole new level.

BYD Yangwang U9 Track Edition is a futuristic all-electric hypercar that is built on BYD’s cutting-edge e4 platform. It has been equipped with sharp LED headlights, sculpted air intakes, and flowing silhouette emphasize both speed and elegance.

At the rear, it features a prominent wing and sleek tail-lamps. In dimension U9 measures around 4.96 metres in length, 2.02 metres in width, and 1.29 metres in height, with a wheelbase of nearly 2.9 metres.

Its low-slung profile and lightweight carbon-fibre body enhance stability and downforce, ensuring optimum handling even at extreme speeds.

Talking about the powertrain, Yangwang U9 has been equipped with four independent electric motors, one for each wheel.
