CV Retail Sales May 2025: India’s commercial vehicle (CV) market continued to show signs of resilience and recovery in May 2025, with major players like Tata Motors, Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, and Force Motors posting robust retail sales figures.
According to Vahan data analyzed for May, total CV retail sales stood at 77,135 units, marking a modest year-on-year (YoY) growth of 2.15% from 75,519 units sold in May 2024.
Let’s take a detailed look at how the top CV manufacturers performed during the month.

CV Retail Sales May 2025: Tata Motors
Tata Motors – Still the Undisputed Leader
Tata Motors retained its stronghold in the commercial vehicle market by retailing 29,122 units in May 2025. However, this figure represents a slight dip of 3.70% compared to 30,240 units sold in May 2024.
Despite the decline, Tata continues to command the largest market share of 37.75%, owing to its extensive portfolio across light, medium, and heavy commercial vehicle segments.

Mahindra – Fastest Growing Player in CV Space
Mahindra recorded a stellar performance by registering 20,524 unit sales, up from 17,146 units in May 2024. This translates to an impressive YoY growth of 19.68%, the highest among the top four players.
Mahindra’s dominance in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment — particularly pickups and mini trucks — continues to drive its growth momentum.

Force Motors saw a marginal drop in its retail sales with 1,943 units in May 2025, compared to 2,048 units a year ago — a YoY decline of 5.13%.
