Ducati has launched the new Ducati Desmo450 EDX in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 18.55 lakh. The new motorcycle joins the Italian manufacturer’s off-road lineup alongside the Desmo450 MX Factory, which costs Rs. 21.26 lakh.
Ducati has developed the EDX specifically for enduro and cross-country riding, with changes to its fuel tank, chassis setup, suspension and tyres.
The motorcycle shares its 449.6cc engine with the Desmo450 MX range and gets advanced electronic rider aids. Bookings for the new Ducati Desmo450 EDX have opened across authorised dealerships in India.
Ducati Desmo450 EDX Design and Features
The Ducati Desmo450 EDX features an off-road-focused design with a lightweight body and tall stance. It gets a larger 8.5-litre fuel tank compared to the 7.2-litre unit on the Desmo450 MX. The motorcycle also features revised bodywork, a dedicated seat and a single Ducati Red paint scheme.
Its enduro-focused equipment includes standard handguards, an engine skid plate and a side stand. The motorcycle rides on wire-spoke wheels with Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid-Soft tyres. Ducati has also equipped it with an aluminium twin-spar frame to maintain a lightweight construction while providing the strength required for demanding off-road conditions.
Ducati Desmo450 EDX Engine and Performance
The Ducati Desmo450 EDX uses a 449.6cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with Desmodromic valve timing. It produces 63.5hp at 9,400rpm and 53.5Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm. Around 70 percent of its maximum torque is available from 4,200rpm, which helps riders maintain momentum on challenging trails.
The engine comes with a six-speed gearbox and a lightweight construction. Ducati has also equipped the motorcycle with an advanced electronics package, including traction control, launch control, engine brake control and a quickshifter. Riders get two power modes and two riding modes to adjust engine performance according to riding conditions.
Ducati Desmo450 EDX Suspension, Brakes and Safety
The Ducati Desmo450 EDX uses fully adjustable 49mm Showa upside-down front forks with 310mm of travel.
At the rear, it gets a fully adjustable Showa monoshock offering 301mm of wheel travel. Ducati has revised the suspension settings and spring rates to suit enduro and cross-country riding.
The motorcycle rides on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel setup with Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid-Soft tyres. Braking duties come from Brembo components with 260mm front and 240mm rear Galfer discs.
Its electronic safety package includes closed-loop Ducati Traction Control, which can recognise jumps and temporarily suspend its intervention.
Ducati Desmo450 EDX Price and Rivals
Ducati has launched the Desmo450 EDX at Rs. 18.55 lakh (ex-showroom India). Its MX Factory sibling costs Rs. 21.26 lakh. The EDX targets serious enduro and cross-country riders rather than conventional road-going adventure motorcycle buyers.
