Italian bike company Ducati has officially launched its all-new Ducati Desmo450 MX in the Indian market, with an introductory price of Rs 17.24 lakh (ex-showroom).

This model represents a significant milestone for the company as it ventures beyond its traditional lineup of superbikes and street motorcycles. The Desmo 450 MX features a lightweight chassis and an advanced suspension setup.

Powered by a 450cc engine specifically designed for motocross riding, the new Desmo 450 MX is expected to attract enthusiasts seeking a high-end off-road motorcycle in India. With its aggressive styling, premium components, and strong racing heritage, it aims to make a mark in the off-road segment.

Design of the Ducati Desmo450 MX

Ducati Desmo450 MX features a lightweight yet highly rigid chassis designed specifically for competitive motocross performance.

It is built around a strong aluminum perimeter frame that helps improve handling, stability, and rider control on rough off-road terrain. The motorcycle follows a sharp and aggressive motocross design with a slim body profile, allowing better movement for the rider during jumps and tight corners.

At the front, it gets a compact LED headlight integrated into the minimalistic number plate-style panel, maintaining its race-focused character.

The bike also has a tall stance, long-travel suspension, and a narrow seat layout, giving it ideal proportions and dimensions suited for high-performance motocross riding.

Powertrain of the Ducati Desmo450 MX

The Ducati Desmo450 MX features a high-performance 449.6cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that incorporates Ducati’s renowned Desmodromic valve system.

This design is tailored to deliver powerful performance and consistent reliability on demanding off-road tracks. The engine generates approximately 63.5 horsepower at 9,400 RPM and 53.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 RPM.

It is coupled with a 5-speed gearbox and a quick-shift system, allowing for smooth gear changes during aggressive riding.

While official mileage figures are not typically emphasized for motocross bikes, the Ducati Desmo450 MX is expected to achieve around 25–30 km/l under controlled riding conditions. This level of efficiency is notable for its performance-oriented segment.

The Ducati Desmo450 MX features a race-focused suspension system designed to tackle demanding motocross tracks. At the front, it is equipped with fully adjustable 49 mm Showa upside-down forks with Kashima coating, providing approximately 310 mm of wheel travel to easily absorb jumps and rough terrain.

The rear consists of a Showa monoshock with linkage, offering around 301 mm of travel for enhanced stability and traction during aggressive riding.

For braking, the motorcycle utilizes a high-performance system developed in collaboration with Brembo and Galfer, which includes a 260 mm front disc with a two-piston caliper and a 240 mm rear disc, ensuring strong and precise stopping power in off-road conditions.
