Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has posted a modest 2% year-on-year increase in total sales for May 2025. The company dispatched 507,701 units during the month, up from 498,123 units in May 2024.
Domestic sales were the key driver of this growth, with 488,997 units sold in India, reflecting a 2% rise compared to 479,450 units in the same month last year. Export volumes remained largely stable at 18,704 units, marginally higher than last year’s 18,673 units.

Hero MotoCorp Segment Wise Sales
Breaking down segment-wise performance, the motorcycle segment saw a slight increase of 0.84%, with 475,164 units sold, while the scooter segment registered a significant jump of 20.8%, selling 32,537 units in May 2025 compared to 26,937 units a year earlier.
This strong growth in scooters highlights the shifting consumer preference towards more versatile urban mobility solutions.

EV Sales Of Hero MotoCorp
In the electric vehicle segment, Hero’s sub-brand VIDA is making steady progress. The company dispatched 8,361 VIDA electric scooters in May 2025, with 7,161 units registered on the VAHAN portal, capturing a 7.2% share of the electric two-wheeler market.
VIDA is also preparing to launch a new product on July 1, 2025, aiming to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing EV space.
Conclusion
Hero MotoCorp’s May 2025 sales performance reflects a mixed outlook: while month-on-month growth signals recovery, the significant year-to-date decline underscores the need for strategic focus on new product launches and expanding the electric vehicle portfolio.
The upcoming launch of new models, particularly in the EV segment, will be critical for Hero’s plans to regain growth and maintain its market leadership.
