Hyundai Aims to Sell 1 Million Connected Cars in India by 2027

Hyundai Motor India has announced an ambitious target of selling 1 million connected cars in the country by 2027. The company is strengthening its focus on connected mobility and software-driven vehicle technologies as customer demand for smart features continues to grow.

Hyundai already has more than 8 lakh connected cars on Indian roads and plans to significantly expand connected technology across its product lineup.

Hyundai Bluelink Leads the Connected Car Journey

Hyundai introduced its Bluelink connected car platform in India in 2019 with the launch of the Venue. At the time, it was promoted as India’s first OEM-fitted connected SUV.

Since then, the company has expanded Bluelink to several popular models, including the Creta, Venue, and i20. The platform now offers more than 70 connected features, such as remote vehicle control, vehicle health monitoring, live location tracking, trip history, and other convenience functions through a smartphone application.

Hyundai also aims to increase the share of connected vehicles in its overall sales from 4 percent in 2019 to 20 percent by 2026.

Software-Defined Vehicles and OTA Updates

Hyundai is also investing heavily in software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and over-the-air (OTA) updates. This technology allows customers to receive software improvements, navigation updates, and new features without visiting a dealership.

The company introduced OTA map updates with the i20 in 2020, followed by its next-generation Audio Video Navigation Telematics system in 2022. In 2025, Hyundai further upgraded its technology with the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), offering a more advanced digital experience.

Connected Technology Enhances Safety

Hyundai says its connected car technology has played an important role in improving customer safety.

According to the company, the Bluelink platform has assisted more than 5 lakh motorists through SOS emergency support and roadside assistance services. It has also helped with around 15,000 crash notification alerts and supported law enforcement agencies in locating and recovering stolen vehicles.

Upcoming EV to Get Advanced Connected Features

Hyundai’s upcoming mass-market electric SUV is expected to feature the company’s latest connected car technology as standard across all variants.

By combining connected mobility with its expanding electric vehicle lineup, Hyundai aims to deliver a smarter and more convenient ownership experience. The company believes the rising demand for connected vehicles reflects changing customer expectations and the growing role of technology in the future of mobility.
