Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), one of the country’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturers, kicked off 2026 with a landmark performance, posting its highest-ever monthly sales in India for the month of January.

The company reported a total of 73,137 units sold, marking a strong 11.5% year-on-year growth compared to January 2025, driven by robust domestic demand and a sharp rise in exports.

According to HMIL data, domestic dispatches to dealers in India reached 59,107 units, up 9.5% year-on-year, reflecting sustained consumer preference across multiple segments. In addition, exports climbed significantly, with 14,030 units shipped worldwide, representing a 20.9% year-on-year increase—a testament to Hyundai’s growing global appeal and the strength of its India-made portfolio.

Popular Models Drive Growth

Several models in Hyundai’s lineup contributed significantly to the record performance.

The Hyundai Venue continued its strong momentum with 12,413 units sold, achieving its highest-ever monthly sales, while the Hyundai Aura also registered its best January performance with 7,978 units.

These contributions underscore the sustained demand for Hyundai’s compact SUV and sedan offerings in India’s competitive automotive market.

Management Response and Strategic Outlook

Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO of Hyundai Motor India Limited, said that January 2026 marked a “defining chapter” in the company’s Indian journey.

He emphasized that the combination of brand strength, dealer network efficiency, and customer trust were key factors behind achieving the highest monthly domestic and total sales figures in HMIL’s history.

Garg also highlighted the strong export performance as a reflection of global confidence in Hyundai’s India-manufactured vehicles.

Looking ahead, the automaker is expected to maintain its focus on expanding product reach, enhancing customer experience, and scaling exports and analysts believe that 2026 could be a defining year for sustained growth in both domestic and international markets.
