In a significant achievement for Indian automotive manufacturing, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, produced in India, has earned a 4-star safety rating in the latest Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) crash tests.
The compact crossover SUV secured an impressive 84% overall score, reflecting its robust safety features and engineering excellence.Â

The Fronx’s overall score of 163.75 out of 193.8 points underscores its balanced performance across various safety parameters. The assessment was divided into two primary categories:

Preventive Safety Performance: Scoring 92% (79.42 out of 85.8 points), the Fronx excelled in features designed to prevent accidents. It achieved perfect scores in Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) tests for daytime and nighttime pedestrian detection, as well as cyclist detection. However, in AEB intersection scenarios, it received 3 out of 5 points. Additional features like lane departure prevention assist and pedal misapplication prevention also contributed to its high preventive safety score.

Collision Safety Performance: With a score of 76% (76.33 out of 100 points), the Fronx demonstrated strong occupant protection capabilities. It received full marks in full-wrap frontal collision, side collision (driver’s seat), and pedestrian leg protection tests. The vehicle also scored 4 out of 5 points in neck injury protection during rear-end collisions and passenger seat belt reminder tests. However, it achieved 3 out of 5 points in pedestrian head protection assessments.Â
