India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, reported total sales of 1,80,077 units in May 2025, registering a modest 3.2% year-on-year growth compared to 1,74,551 units sold in May 2024.
While the company faced headwinds in the domestic market, it delivered an impressive performance on the export front, helping it close the month in the green.

So, lets know about company’s sales in detail.

Domestic Passenger Vehicle Sales See 5.6% Drop
In a surprising turn, Maruti’s domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales declined by 5.6%, falling to 1,35,962 units from 1,44,002 units sold in May last year.
The dip was primarily driven by slowing demand in the entry-level and compact segments, especially for models like Alto, S-Presso, and Celerio. Competition in the sub-4m SUV space also intensified, affecting volumes for popular nameplates like Swift, WagonR, and Baleno.
Maruti Suzuki Exports Grow 80% Year-on-Year
While domestic sales faltered, Maruti Suzuki’s export numbers told a different story. The brand recorded 31,219 units exported in May 2025, marking a stunning 80% growth over the 17,367 units exported in the same month last year.
This surge reflects Maruti’s focused strategy to expand its global footprint by strengthening demand in Africa, Latin America, and ASEAN markets.
