New Force Gurkha Electric Spied Testing: A Rugged EV Ready to Challenge Thar Electric

The demand for electric cars is increasing every day, and every automobile company is either working on their electric vehicle (EV) or planning to launch a new electric car in India. Currently, Force Motors is preparing to electrify its iconic off-roader, the Force Gurkha.

Recently, the Force Gurkha Electric was spotted testing in camouflage, and it’s expected to bring a fresh wave of innovation to India’s growing electric SUV segment, particularly as a direct competitor to the upcoming Mahindra Thar Electric.

Force Gurkha Electric: Expected Features

The test mule of the car maintains its boxy silhouette and G-Wagen-inspired profile that Gurkha enthusiasts love. Key visual elements include the signature snorkel, round LED headlamps, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

We can expect subtle EV-specific modifications such as a closed-off grille, aero-optimized bumpers, and blue accents to differentiate it from the diesel variant. The Force Gurkha Electric will feature full-time 4WD with locking differentials, making it well-suited for serious off-roading.

It will be equipped with a digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additional features likely include a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), cornering lamps, and speed-sensing door locks for enhanced safety and convenience. It may also offer Eco and Power drive modes, regenerative braking, and an electronic shift-on-the-fly for better terrain adaptability.

The cabin is expected to mirror that of the updated diesel Gurkha, complete with a midnight black soft-touch dashboard, captain seats, and ample headroom.

There will be mobile charging ports for all occupants, power windows, and it’s likely that manual air conditioning will be retained. Although the layout remains utilitarian, we can anticipate improvements in noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) insulation, along with EV-specific instrumentation.

Gurkha EV is expected to feature either a single or dual motor setup, providing instant torque delivery.

Force Gurkha Electric: Powertrain

While official specifications are not yet disclosed, the Gurkha EV is expected to feature either a single or dual motor setup, providing instant torque delivery. The battery capacity may range from 40 to 60 kWh, offering a real-world range of 300 to 400 km. Fast-charging support and IP-rated waterproofing for off-road resilience are likely to be included.

Force Gurkha Electric: Price and Availability

The Force Gurkha Electric is expected to be priced between ₹20 lakh and ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in direct competition with the Thar Electric and the Maruti Jimny EV. We anticipate that the company plans to launch this vehicle in late 2025 or early 2026.

With its rugged build and electric powertrain, the upcoming Gurkha EV could redefine what it means to go off-road sustainably. If Force Motors gets the pricing and range right, it could be a game-changer for enthusiasts looking to explore the wild without leaving a carbon footprint.
