Alert! No More Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG for Indian Market, Company Discontinued?

India’s largest automobile company, Maruti Suzuki, has traditionally sold a significant number of CNG cars in the country. However, recent reports suggest that the company has removed the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG variant from its website.

This has led to speculation that Maruti Suzuki may have ceased production of these models due to poor sales performance. In this article, we provide detailed information regarding the discontnued of Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG.

Why Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG Removed From Website?

Maruti Suzuki has not officially confirmed the discontinuation of the CNG version of the Grand Vitara. However, after visiting the company’s official website and reviewing the details in the Grand Vitara brochure, we noticed that the CNG variant is missing. This raises the expectation that the company may be planning to remove this model from its CNG portfolio.

The key question is: why would the company remove this car from its lineup, especially when it is one of the best-selling vehicles in India? From our perspective, the Grand Vitara falls into the compact SUV segment, and the CNG variant has not generated much excitement among customers. Additionally, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG is equipped with a single-cylinder engine, which compromises the vehicle’s boot space. Despite being one of the top-selling models in the company’s portfolio, the CNG version has struggled to attract buyers, which may be the main reason behind the potential discontinuation.

Currently, it is unclear whether the company has permanently discontinued the CNG variant or if they plan to launch an updated version. However, it is certain that the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG is no longer available for sale in India.

Features of Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

This car offers two engine options. The first is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, which generates a maximum power of 103 bhp and peak torque of 137 Nm. This engine comes with a choice of either a 5-speed or a 6-speed gearbox. The second option is a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder hybrid engine, capable of producing a maximum power of 116 bhp.

In terms of features, this SUV includes a 9-inch infotainment screen that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Additionally, it features a head-up display and a 360-degree camera for enhanced convenience and safety.

Price

In the Indian market, the price of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara starts at ₹11.42 lakh, with the top model priced at ₹20.68 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). This SUV competes directly with the Hyundai Creta.
