India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, has commenced production of its Maruti e-Vitara, which is set to be launched in the Indian market on September 3.
The SUV will be manufactured at the company’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, which was inaugurated today by Prime Minister Modi. The inauguration also included a glimpse of the next phase of the plant, which will produce hybrid battery electrodes.
Once launched, the e-Vitara will face competition from vehicles such as the Mahindra XUV400, Tata Punch EV, and MG ZS EV.

Design of the Maruti e-Vitara
The Maruti e-Vitara features a bold and futuristic design, distinguishing it as the brand’s first all-electric SUV.
At the front, it boasts sleek LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights (DRLs), giving it a sharp and modern appearance. The sculpted bonnet contributes to a muscular stance, while the closed-off grille, adorned with subtle chrome and blue accents, emphasizes its electric vehicle identity. On the side, the SUV is equipped with stylish multi-spoke alloy wheels that enhance its sporty look.
At the rear, wraparound LED taillights with a connected light bar further elevate its premium character.
In terms of dimensions, the e-Vitara is expected to measure approximately 4.3 meters in length. It features a wide stance and generous ground clearance, ensuring a commanding road presence while maintaining practical SUV proportions.
Powertrain and Range of Maruti e-Vitara
The Maruti e-Vitara is expected to be equipped with a high-capacity battery pack paired with a refined electric motor, delivering both smooth and powerful performance.
Reports indicate that the SUV could offer a driving range of nearly 500 kilometers on a single charge, making it suitable for both city driving and highway journeys. With strong torque delivery from the electric motor, the e-Vitara is likely to provide quick acceleration and an engaging driving experience.
Its top speed is expected to be around 160–170 km/h, striking a balance between efficiency and performance tailored for Indian road conditions.
Cabin and Safety Features of Maruti e-Vitara
Inside, the Maruti e-Vitara is expected to showcase a modern and technology-rich cabin, featuring premium materials and a clean, clutter-free layout.
The centerpiece is likely to be a large touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with connected car technology for enhanced convenience.
The driver’s display is anticipated to be a fully digital instrument cluster, providing real-time information on range, battery status, and driving modes.
In terms of safety, the SUV is expected to offer multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, and potentially advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features such as lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
Additional highlights may include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless charging, ventilated seats, and a spacious rear bench, ensuring comfort for long journeys. Overall, the e-Vitara’s cabin is designed to blend futuristic technology with everyday practicality.

Expected Price of Maruti e-Vitara
The price of the Maruti e-Vitara will be announced during its launch. It is anticipated that the company will introduce this SUV with a starting price ranging from Rs 17 lakh to Rs 22.5 lakh, ex-showroom. Deliveries of the e-Vitara are expected to commence shortly after the launch.
