Renault is poised to make a significant impact in the mid-size SUV segment with the introduction of the Renault Boreal, a 7-seater SUV derived from the Dacia Bigster platform.
As part of Renault’s “International Game Plan 2027,” the Boreal is designed to cater to markets outside Europe, with its global debut slated for Brazil later this year and an Indian launch anticipated in 2026.Â

Renault Boreal: Design and Styling
The upcoming Renault Boreal exhibits a robust and contemporary design, featuring Y-shaped LED Headlights flanking a sleek grille adorned with the Renault emblem, Pronounced Wheel Arches and body cladding, enhancing its rugged appeal, C-pillar Mounted Rear Door Handles, offering a clean side profile, LED Tail Lamps and a redesigned rear bumper, contributing to its modern aesthetic.Â
Built on the CMF-B platform, the Boreal shares design elements with the latest Duster and the Bigster concept, ensuring a blend of familiarity and innovation.Â
Anticipated dimensions for the Boreal is Length: Approximately 4.57 meters, Width: Around 1.81 meters, Height: About 1.71 meters, and Wheelbase: Approximately 2.7 meters.Â
The extended wheelbase and length compared to the standard Duster facilitate a spacious three-row seating arrangement, accommodating up to seven passengers comfortably.

Boreal: Interior and Features
While official interior images are yet to be released, expectations include: 10.1-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 7 or 10-inch Digital Instrument Cluster, providing essential driving information, Dual-zone Climate Control and rear AC vents for enhanced comfort, Panoramic Sunroof and premium Arkamys audio system, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control.
These features aim to offer a tech-rich and comfortable experience for all occupants.Â
Renault Boreal: Powertrain and Performance
As per the reports the Boreal is expected to offer multiple engine options to cater to diverse markets: First it will be available with 1.3L Turbo Petrol Engine, delivering approximately 167 bhp, second it will be equipped with 1.2L Petrol Mild Hybrid, focusing on fuel efficiency, and third it will be equipped with 1.6L Petrol Hybrid, combining performance with eco-friendliness.
Transmission options may include manual and automatic gearboxes, with front-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations.Â
Boreal: Launch Timeline
The global unveiling of the Renault Boreal is scheduled for later in 2025, starting with markets like Brazil. The Indian launch is anticipated in 2026, following the introduction of the next-generation Duster.
AS per the reports company is planning to launch this car at the starting price of Rs 13 lakh ex-showroom.Â
In India, the Renault Boreal will enter the competitive mid-size SUV segment, rivaling models like: Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus.Â
