Renault is currently developing the updated Renault Duster Hybrid, which will feature a hybrid powertrain and is set to arrive in India next year.
Reports suggest that production is likely to begin in September 2025. Initially, the Duster will be available with both a naturally aspirated petrol engine and a turbocharged petrol engine, with the hybrid option introduced later.
Let’s explore the features of this upcoming SUV.
What to Expect from the Renault Duster Hybrid
The upcoming Renault Duster Hybrid will have a bold and rugged design, measuring 4,340 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and approximately 1,660 mm in height. Built on Renault’s CMF-B platform, it will include modern Y-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), squared wheel arches, thick body cladding, and a muscular stance highlighted by a sculpted bonnet and a chrome-accented grille.
The rear will be equipped with distinctive Y-shaped LED tail lamps. Inside, the SUV is designed with a spacious and upright cabin layout, featuring a layered dashboard, a floating infotainment screen, and practical rectangular air conditioning vents.
With a high ground clearance of 217 mm, ample boot space of around 472 litres, and improved rear legroom, the Duster Hybrid aims to combine tough SUV styling with comfort and everyday usability.

Powertrain and Cabin Features
The Duster Hybrid will be powered by a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine combined with two electric motors and a 1.2 kWh battery pack, producing a total output of 140 PS. It will utilize a unique multi-mode automatic gearbox—4-speed for petrol and 2-speed for electric—allowing for a seamless transition between electric-only, hybrid, and petrol driving modes.
This setup enables the SUV to run on electric power for up to 80% of city driving, enhancing fuel efficiency.
Additionally, the Duster Hybrid will come with multiple terrain modes, including Eco, Snow, Mud/Sand, and Off-road, making it versatile for various driving conditions. Inside, the cabin will feature premium touches, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and an Arkamys 3D sound system.
Comfort features will include ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, wireless phone charging, and USB-C ports available for front and rear passengers. The dashboard will showcase a layered design focused on the driver, with neatly arranged physical controls for the air conditioning and media systems.
Overall, the Duster Hybrid is designed to meld technology, comfort, and fuel efficiency for modern SUV buyers.
Expected Price and Competitors
The Renault Duster Hybrid is anticipated to debut in India by late 2026, following the launch of the petrol version in early 2026.
The hybrid variant is expected to be priced between Rs 15 and 16 lakh (ex-showroom), with top-spec trims potentially reaching up to Rs 18 lakh.
In terms of competition, the Duster Hybrid will face rivals such as the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos, positioning itself as a value-packed option in the compact SUV segment.
