Tata Motors is gearing up to expand its flagship SUV lineup with a new petrol-powered Tata Safari, and recent spy shots confirm that testing is already underway.
The test mules of the Tata Safari Petrol both camouflaged and undisguised were spotted on Indian roads, hinting at an imminent launch. We are expecting that company will launch this car in upcoming months.

Why Tata Safari Petrol?
Currently, Tata Safari is only available with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, which delivers strong performance but faces limitations in markets like Delhi-NCR due to diesel vehicle restrictions.
Now, company is planning to add 1.5-litre TGDi turbo petrol engine, developed in-house by Tata. This four-cylinder motor is expected to produce around 170 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque, offering a smoother and more refined alternative to the current diesel-only setup.
This engine is also likely to power the Harrier, Curvv, and the upcoming Sierra, making it a key part of Tata’s future ICE strategy.
With rivals like the Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector Plus offering petrol options, Tata is finally stepping up to meet demand.

No Major Design & Features Change in Tata Safari Petrol
The test vehicles didn’t show any major design changes. Expect the same bold styling with features like Split LED headlamps, Connected LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels, Panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, and Large touchscreen infotainment system.
The petrol version may get subtle cosmetic tweaks or new alloy designs to differentiate it from the diesel variant.
Launch Timeline & Expected Pricing
The Tata Safari Petrol is expected to launch by the end of 2025, possibly just ahead of the festive season.
It will likely be priced slightly lower than the diesel version, making it more accessible for urban buyers. We are expecting that company may launch this car at the starting price of Rs 15 lakh ex-showroom.
