VinFast Electric Scooter Range India Debut: Specs & Details
Vietnamese EV maker VinFast is aggressively expanding its footprint in India’s fast-growing electric two-wheeler market. After establishing its four-wheeler facility in Tamil Nadu, the brand has secured multiple design patents in India for its electric scooters—including the sporty Viper and the Rasad maxi-scooter.
With dealership onboarding officially underway, VinFast plans to roll out its first electric two-wheelers in the second half of 2026. This multi-model entry signals a direct challenge to established domestic EV leaders.
Design Patents Signal A Broad Portfolio
VinFast has filed design patents for multiple electric two-wheelers in quick succession. The patent filings showcase models like the Viper—featuring a sharp front apron, sporty LED DRLs, and a revised bat-wing tail lamp—alongside the Rasad, an aggressive electric maxi-scooter with a tall windscreen and stepped seating.
Rather than testing a single model, VinFast is preparing a comprehensive lineup ranging from sleek urban runabouts to high-performance maxi-scooters tailored for Indian road conditions.
Performance and Battery Specs
While final India-spec figures remain unconfirmed, international variants provide strong clues. The scooter lineup utilizes durable LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery chemistry, which delivers superior thermal stability in warm climates.
Motor outputs range from 3 kW on entry commuter models up to 7 kW on premium variants, enabling top speeds between 70 km/h and 100 km/h. Single and dual-battery setups are expected to offer practical riding ranges between 80 km and 140 km on a single charge.
Local Assembly in Tamil Nadu
To maintain competitive pricing, VinFast plans to produce its electric two-wheelers on a dedicated assembly line at its Thoothukudi facility in Tamil Nadu. Domestic manufacturing will allow the company to bypass heavy import duties and qualify for local EV incentives.
The automaker has already begun inviting dealership applications across key urban cities, building a solid sales and service network ahead of initial customer deliveries.
Launch Timeline and Competition
The first VinFast electric scooter is expected to launch in India by late 2026, with estimated starting prices ranging between Rs 1.00 lakh and Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom).
Once available, VinFast will compete directly against popular rivals like the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Energy, and Ola Electric. If VinFast combines attractive pricing with aggressive styling and solid real-world range, its new scooter range could significantly reshape India’s premium EV segment.
