Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) giant VinFast is set to enter the Indian market with plans to launch two new electric SUVs, the VinFast VF 6 and VinFast VF 7.
Reports indicate that the company will begin accepting bookings for both models starting July 15, 2025, marking a significant milestone in India’s rapidly evolving electric mobility landscape.
Additionally, VinFast has inaugurated its first showroom in Chennai, located on the iconic Mount Road.
VinFast’s Bold Entry into India
VinFast has made a considerable investment of USD 2 billion to establish a manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, demonstrating its long-term commitment to the Indian EV sector.
The brand aims to compete with established players like Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, and MG by offering premium electric crossovers.
VF 6 and VF 7: Specifications & Features
VinFast VF 6
The VinFast VF 6 will be the company’s entry-level model, measuring around 4.21 meters in length. It is expected to compete with the Tata Curvv and the Mahindra BE 06 in the Indian market.
It will be equipped with a 59.6 kWh battery pack, generating a maximum power output of up to 204 PS and peak torque of 310 Nm.
With this powertrain, the VF 6 will offer a range of approximately 480 km, similar to its Vietnamese counterpart. The model will be available in two variants: Eco and Plus, with a starting price of Rs 18-20 lakh (ex-showroom).
VinFast VF 7
The VinFast VF 7 will be slightly larger and more feature-rich than the VF 6, competing with the Mahindra XEV 9e and Tata Harrier EV. It will measure around 4.54 meters in length and will be offered with battery options of 59.6 kWh (Eco) and 75.6 kWh (Plus & AWD), providing a range of approximately 496 km on a single charge.
The VF 7 may be introduced in three variants: Eco, Plus, and Plus AWD, with a starting price of Rs 50 lakh. Both SUVs will feature flush door handles, LED lighting, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a Head-Up Display (HUD), a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, powered seats, and premium audio systems, positioning them as technologically advanced contenders in their segments.
Chennai Showroom & Nationwide Expansion
VinFast’s first showroom in India is now operational on Mount Road, Chennai, allowing customers to experience the VF 6 and VF 7 firsthand.
To ensure robust after-sales support, the company has partnered with myTVS to establish 120 service points across the country. With local assembly in Tamil Nadu, VinFast aims to provide competitive pricing while adhering to global standards.
