Volkswagen is working on a new compact SUV for the Indian market, which could be launched by mid-2027. This upcoming model is expected to take the place of Skoda Kylaq, which currently sells well in the compact SUV segment.
Volkswagen wants to strengthen its presence in India, especially in the small SUV category that is very popular with buyers. With recent changes in GST rules that benefit smaller cars, the company may also price this new SUV competitively.
Features of Volkswagen Upcoming Car
The new Volkswagen compact SUV is likely to be based on the MQB-AO-IN platform, the same one used for the Taigun and Kylaq. This platform is known for good safety, solid build quality, and stable driving performance. However, Volkswagen is expected to give the SUV its own design, so it looks different from Skoda models.
The SUV is likely to come with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. This engine offers a good mix of power and fuel efficiency for city and highway driving. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are expected to be offered.
