Volkswagen India is preparing to make a bold move in the premium SUV segment with the upcoming launch of the Volkswagen Tayron SUV — a globally successful 7-seater SUV that’s finally heading to Indian shores.
Expected to slot above the Tiguan, the Tayron will cater to buyers looking for a spacious, tech-loaded, and performance-driven SUV that blends German engineering with family practicality.

The Volkswagen Tayron boasts a bold and mature design, featuring a wide grille with chrome accents, sleek LED matrix headlights, and a sculpted bonnet for a strong road presence.
The side profile showcases sharp character lines, muscular wheel arches, and large alloy wheels, while the rear gets connected LED tail-lamps and a sporty roof spoiler.
Built on the MQB-A2 platform, the Tayron follows Volkswagen’s modern SUV design language, blending elegance with aggression, aimed squarely at premium family SUV buyers.
The Volkswagen Tayron is expected to measure around 4750mm in length, 1860mm in width, 1680mm in height, with a wheelbase of approximately 2790mm.

The Volkswagen Tayron SUV offers a versatile range of powertrains to suit diverse driving preferences. The lineup includes a 1.5-liter turbocharged mild-hybrid petrol engine producing 150 PS, ideal for efficiency-focused drivers.
For those seeking more power, a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine is available in two states of tune: 204 PS and 265 PS, both paired with Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.
Diesel enthusiasts can opt for the 2.0-liter TDI engine, delivering either 150 PS with front-wheel drive or 193 PS with all-wheel drive.
The Tayron also offers plug-in hybrid variants combining a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor, yielding system outputs of 204 PS or 272 PS and an electric-only range exceeding 100 km.
Transmission options include a seven-speed DSG for most variants, while the plug-in hybrids utilize a six-speed DSG.
Performance-wise, the top-spec 2.0-liter TSI variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 6.5 seconds, with top speeds ranging between 210 km/h and 221 km/h, depending on the specific configuration.

The Volkswagen Tayron interior blends luxury and innovation, featuring premium materials like soft-touch surfaces, eco-friendly ArtVelours microfibre, and stylish wood or aluminium accents.
It offers a 12.9-inch touchscreen (expandable to 15 inches) and a 10.25-inch digital driver display. Ambient lighting with 30 colours adds a modern touch, while ErgoActive seats provide massage and ventilation.

The Volkswagen Tayron is anticipated to launch in India by late 2025, with an expected ex-showroom price ranging between ₹35 lakh and ₹45 lakh ex-showroom.
