Hyundai has released another teaser of the 2026 Hyundai i20, giving us a clearer look at the premium hatchback’s updated styling.

The latest teaser confirms connected LED lighting elements at both the front and rear, suggesting a major design overhaul for Hyundai’s popular hatchback.

The new model is expected to make its global debut in July 2026, while the India launch could take place sometime in early 2027.

2026 Hyundai i20: Expected Design

The teaser images reveal a significantly sharper and more futuristic design language. Up front, the new i20 is expected to feature Y-shaped LED daytime running lights connected by a full-width LED light bar.

The headlamps appear sleeker than before, while the grille and bumper design could be completely redesigned.

At the rear, Hyundai is likely to offer connected LED tail lamps with a light bar running across the tailgate. New alloy wheels, a sportier stance and more aggressive styling cues are also expected.

2026 Hyundai i20: Expected Powertrain

Hyundai is expected to continue offering multiple petrol engine options for the new-generation i20. The India-spec model could retain the existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit currently available with the i20 N Line.

International markets may also receive mild-hybrid technology to improve fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual, CVT automatic and DCT gearbox depending on the variant.

Hyundai could also tune the engines for improved performance and refinement.

2026 Hyundai i20: Expected Cabin Features

Inside, the next-generation i20 is expected to receive a major cabin upgrade. Spy images suggest a new dashboard layout featuring a curved display integrating the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen.

Hyundai may offer a larger touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging and a premium Bose sound system.

Better material quality, redesigned seats and additional storage spaces are also expected to enhance the premium appeal of the hatchback.

2026 Hyundai i20: Expected Safety Features

Hyundai is likely to strengthen the safety package of the new i20 to meet evolving customer expectations and stricter regulations. Features could include six airbags as standard, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system and rear parking sensors.

Higher variants may also get a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring and Level 2 ADAS functions such as lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking. A stronger body structure could further improve crash protection.

2026 Hyundai i20: Expected Price and Rivals in India

The next-generation Hyundai i20 is expected to command a premium over the current model and could be priced between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom).

Once launched in India, it will continue to rival the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza and premium variants of the Maruti Swift.
