2026 Tata Punch EV Bags 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating
Tata Motors has added another milestone to its growing list of safe vehicles as the 2026 Tata Punch EV secured a five-star safety rating in the latest Bharat NCAP crash tests.
The electric SUV, which has become one of the brand’s most popular EVs in India, impressed with excellent scores in both adult and child occupant protection. More importantly, the rating applies to the entire Punch EV lineup, ensuring that buyers receive the same high level of safety regardless of the variant they choose.
With this achievement, Tata Motors further strengthens its reputation for building some of the safest passenger vehicles in the Indian market.
2026 Tata Punch EV Scores High in Bharat NCAP Crash Tests
The Bharat NCAP crash tests were conducted in May 2026, with the Adventure 40 and Empowered Plus S 40 variants being evaluated. The certification is valid across all six variants of the Punch EV, including models equipped with both the 30kWh and 40kWh battery packs.
In the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) assessment, the Punch EV scored an impressive 31.09 out of 32. It secured 15.28 out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 15.80 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test, while also successfully passing the side pole impact test.
The electric SUV performed equally well in Child Occupant Protection (COP), achieving 45 out of 49. It earned a perfect 24 out of 24 in the Child Restraint System (CRS) dynamic test and 12 out of 12 in CRS installation, along with 9 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment category.
Comprehensive Safety Features Across Every Variant
One of the biggest highlights of the 2026 Tata Punch EV is that its five-star safety rating extends across the complete model range, meaning customers do not have to opt for higher variants to benefit from top-level crash protection.
Standard safety features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), side and curtain airbags, pedestrian protection, seat belt reminders for all seating positions, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages for the outboard rear seats. These features contribute significantly to the Punch EV’s strong safety credentials.
Compared to rivals in the compact electric SUV segment, the Punch EV’s 31.09/32 Adult Occupant Protection score ranks among the best in its class. Interestingly, the petrol-powered Punch also performed well under Bharat NCAP earlier this year, scoring 30.58 out of 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 45 out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection. With the latest result, Tata Motors continues to reinforce its leadership in vehicle safety while offering customers confidence across both its ICE and electric vehicle lineup.
