Mahindra Vision S Could Become Brand’s Next Big SUV

Mahindra is preparing to expand its SUV portfolio with the upcoming Vision S, and the latest spy shots suggest development is entering its final phase. The rugged SUV has now been spotted tackling rough mountain trails, hinting at its strong off-road capabilities.

Built on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform, the Vision S is expected to arrive with both petrol/diesel and electric powertrain options. If launched as planned, it could become one of Mahindra’s most important lifestyle SUVs in the coming years.

Recent test mules reveal that the Mahindra Vision S is being developed with a clear focus on off-road performance. The SUV features a boxy silhouette, high ground clearance, chunky body cladding and an upright stance that gives it a commanding road presence.

Reports also suggest that four-wheel drive could be offered on higher variants, making it a capable choice for buyers who enjoy adventure driving. Testing on challenging mountain roads indicates that Mahindra is fine-tuning the SUV before its official debut.

Expected Platform, Features and Powertrain

The Mahindra Vision S is expected to feature a bold and rugged design that reflects the brand’s strong SUV heritage. Spy shots and teaser images suggest a boxy silhouette with an upright stance, short overhangs and muscular body panels, giving it a commanding road presence.

The front is likely to feature Mahindra’s latest signature grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps and C-shaped LED daytime running lights. Squared wheel arches, thick body cladding and large alloy wheels further enhance its off-road appeal.

While Mahindra has not revealed the official dimensions, the Vision S is expected to be larger than the Thar and offer generous cabin space, higher ground clearance and a practical five-door layout, making it suitable for both city driving and adventure trips.

The Mahindra Vision S is expected to offer a modern and premium cabin while retaining the practicality needed for everyday use and off-road adventures. The dashboard is likely to feature a clean, horizontal layout with a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Higher variants could also get a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, connected car technology and a premium sound system.

Thanks to its boxy design and long wheelbase, the Vision S is expected to provide generous headroom, ample legroom and a spacious boot, making it a comfortable SUV for both family trips and long-distance journeys.

Mahindra has not officially revealed the powertrain details of the Vision S, but the SUV is expected to be built on the brand’s new NU_IQ platform, which supports multiple propulsion options.

Buyers can expect petrol, diesel and all-electric versions as part of Mahindra’s future-ready strategy. The internal combustion variants are likely to use the company’s proven 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines, paired with a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

Higher variants could also offer a 4×4 drivetrain with multiple terrain modes, while the electric version is expected to feature a long-range battery pack and fast-charging capability.

Expected Price and Rivals of Mahindra Vision S

Mahindra is yet to announce the official pricing of the Vision S, but industry reports suggest the SUV could be priced between Rs. 18 lakh and Rs. 25 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the powertrain and variant.

The electric version is expected to command a premium over the petrol and diesel models. Once launched, the Vision S will compete with popular lifestyle and premium SUVs such as the Mahindra Thar Roxx, Maruti Suzuki Jimny, Force Gurkha 5-Door, Toyota Hilux, and higher variants of the Mahindra Scorpio N.

With its rugged styling, multiple powertrain choices and advanced technology, the Vision S could emerge as a strong contender in India’s growing lifestyle SUV segment.
