Stellantis Recalls Over 1.5 Million Ram 1500 Pickup Trucks Worldwide Over Seat Belt Defect
Stellantis has announced a major global safety recall affecting more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a potential fault in the second-row seat belt system. The recall covers vehicles produced between the 2019 and 2026 model years and aims to address an issue that could compromise passenger safety during a collision.
According to the automaker, some affected pickup trucks may have been manufactured with a second-row centre or second-row driver’s side seat belt buckle anchor that was not properly secured to the vehicle’s body structure. If the anchor is not correctly attached, the seat belt may not perform as intended during an accident, increasing the risk of injury for rear-seat occupants.
Over 1.27 Million Vehicles Recalled in the US
The recall includes approximately 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, making it one of Stellantis’ largest recent safety campaigns. In addition, around 156,000 units are being recalled in Canada, nearly 15,000 in Mexico, and about 75,000 vehicles in other international markets. Altogether, the campaign covers just over 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks worldwide.
One Injury Reported, No Fatalities
Stellantis said it is aware of one injury that may be linked to the issue. However, the company has not received any reports of fatalities associated with the defect. The automaker is urging owners of affected vehicles to respond promptly once they receive an official recall notification.
Inspection and Repair to Be Carried Out Free of Cost
Owners of impacted Ram 1500 pickup trucks will be contacted by Stellantis and asked to schedule an appointment with their nearest authorised dealership. During the service visit, technicians will inspect the second-row centre and driver’s side seat belt buckle anchors. If the components are found to be improperly attached, dealers will secure them correctly to the vehicle body at no cost to customers.
The latest recall highlights the importance of regular safety inspections and swift corrective action, especially for critical components such as seat belts that play a vital role in protecting occupants during a crash. For affected Ram 1500 owners, getting the inspection completed as soon as possible is recommended to ensure the vehicle meets the required safety standards.
