Suzuki e-Access: What’s New in Suzuki’s First Electric Scooter?

Suzuki has entered India’s rapidly growing electric scooter market with the Suzuki e-Access, its first electric two-wheeler developed specifically for the EV era. Unlike the petrol-powered Access 125, the e-Access is based on a completely new platform and uses Suzuki’s own electric technology.

The scooter combines a 3.072kWh LFP battery, 4.1kW motor and claimed range of 95km. It also brings features such as keyless operation, reverse mode, a digital display and a maintenance-free belt drive.

With Suzuki’s established brand reputation, the e-Access aims to attract buyers seeking a familiar Japanese scooter experience with electric propulsion.

Suzuki e-Access Design

The e-Access gets a completely different design from the petrol Access 125. Its styling combines a distinctive dual-section front profile with a relatively boxy rear, giving the scooter a unique road presence.

It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels and gets LED lighting at both ends. The scooter has a 765mm seat height, 160mm ground clearance and weighs 122kg. A long ergonomic seat, open front storage area and keyless functionality add to its everyday practicality.

Suzuki e-Access Powertrain

Power comes from a 3.072kWh LFP battery pack paired with a 4.1kW electric motor producing 15Nm of peak torque. Suzuki claims an AIS-certified range of 95km. The battery can be charged from 0-80% in around 4.5 hours using the portable charger, while fast charging cuts this to approximately 1 hour 12 minutes. The scooter uses a fixed battery and automatic transmission.

Suspension and Braking

The Suzuki e-Access uses a telescopic front suspension with coil springs and oil damping, while the rear gets a swingarm-type setup with a coil spring and oil damping.

Suzuki has equipped the scooter with a front disc brake and rear drum brake, along with a Combined Braking System (CBS). Both wheels use 12-inch tubeless tyres, while the underbone frame is designed to balance everyday ride comfort and stability.

Suzuki e-Access Price

The Suzuki e-Access is available in India in a single variant priced at Rs 1.88 lakh ex-showroom. The price places it toward the premium end of the mainstream electric scooter market.

Why Does the Suzuki e-Access Matter?

The e-Access matters because it marks Suzuki Motorcycle India’s entry into the electric two-wheeler segment. The company is bringing its established engineering, manufacturing experience and dealer network into a market dominated by established EV players and newer electric-focused brands.

However, its relatively high price and 95km claimed range could make competition challenging. Still, Suzuki’s entry gives traditional scooter buyers another option as India’s electric mobility market continues to expand.
