Maruti Suzuki Celerio Posts 2x Sales Growth in August 2026, Swift Up 59%

Maruti Suzuki recorded strong sales demand across India in August 2026. While SUVs continue to gain popularity among buyers, traditional hatchbacks drove significant growth for the carmaker. The Maruti Suzuki Celerio nearly doubled its sales volume compared to August 2025.

Meanwhile, the popular Swift hatchback recorded an impressive 59 percent increase in demand. Both models helped Maruti Suzuki maintain its commanding market share in the Indian passenger vehicle market ahead of the festive season.

Celerio and Swift Lead Hatchback Growth

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio witnessed one of its highest sales jumps in recent months. Dispatches for the hatchback reached 2,990 units in August 2026, compared to 1,505 units during the same month last year.

This growth represents a 99 percent year-on-year surge for the entry-level hatchback. The Maruti Swift also registered strong sales momentum with a 59 percent rise in volume. Indian buyers continue to choose the Swift for its sharp design, practical cabin features, and reliable fuel efficiency.

Other Best-Selling Maruti Models

The WagonR once again emerged as the highest-selling model in Maruti Suzuki’s lineup. The Alto also posted strong figures, growing 57 percent year-on-year to hit 8,692 units. The Baleno recorded 15,746 units in August 2026, achieving a 25 percent annual growth. Popular SUV models like the Brezza and Grand Vitara also supported overall dispatch numbers during the month.

Market Outlook

Maruti Suzuki expects total sales momentum to strengthen further during the festive period. The strong performance of the Celerio and Swift proves that budget-conscious Indian car buyers still value affordable, fuel-efficient city cars alongside growing SUV options.
