Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG to Debut on October 15: Expected Design, Engine, Features and Price

Mahindra is set to expand the XUV 3XO range with a new CNG variant on October 15, 2026. The upcoming Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG will become the fourth powertrain option for the compact SUV after petrol, diesel and electric versions.

Mahindra has teased the new model, but the company has not revealed its complete specifications yet. The XUV 3XO CNG will target buyers looking for lower running costs without switching to an electric SUV.

It will also compete directly with CNG versions of popular compact SUVs, including the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: Expected Design

The Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG is expected to retain the same overall design as the standard XUV 3XO. The SUV could continue with its distinctive C-shaped LED daytime running lights, connected rear lighting elements, sculpted body panels and muscular stance.

Mahindra is unlikely to make major exterior changes because the CNG update mainly focuses on adding a new powertrain. The CNG version could receive a dedicated badge on the exterior to differentiate it from petrol and diesel models. The final design may also depend on the variant selected. Mahindra could offer the CNG powertrain across selected mid-spec trims rather than the entire range.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: Expected Powertrain

The XUV 3XO CNG is expected to use the 1.2-litre turbocharged MPFi petrol engine. In petrol form, this engine develops around 112bhp and 200Nm. The CNG setup could deliver lower power and torque figures because CNG generally produces less output than petrol. Mahindra is expected to offer a factory-fitted CNG kit with this engine.

The company could pair it with a manual gearbox, although the final transmission details remain unconfirmed. The more powerful 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine is unlikely to get the CNG system. Mahindra could reveal the mileage, tank capacity and final specifications at the October 15 debut.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: Expected Cabin

The XUV 3XO CNG is expected to retain the standard SUV’s cabin layout and feature list. Depending on the variant, it could continue with dual 10.25-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, connected-car technology and a Harman Kardon audio system. Safety equipment could include six airbags, electronic stability control and ISOFIX mounts, which Mahindra currently offers across the XUV 3XO range.

The biggest change could come from the CNG tank packaging. The existing XUV 3XO has a 295-litre boot, so Mahindra will need to manage luggage space carefully. A dual-cylinder or alternative tank layout could help preserve usable boot space, but Mahindra has not confirmed the arrangement.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: Expected Price and Rivals

The Mahindra XUV 3XO currently starts at Rs. 7.79 lakh, ex-showroom. The CNG version could carry a premium over equivalent petrol variants, with an expected starting price around Rs. 9 lakh.

It will primarily rival the Tata Nexon CNG and Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG. Final pricing and variants should be announced on October 15.
