Volkswagen ID. Tiguan EV Revealed With 600km Range and 299hp AWD
Volkswagen has unveiled the Volkswagen ID. Tiguan EV, an all-electric SUV that brings the popular Tiguan nameplate into the EV era. The new electric SUV will replace the Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 in the brand’s electric lineup and will launch in Europe in early 2027.
Volkswagen will offer the ID. Tiguan with 58kWh and 77kWh battery options, while the range will include both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions.
The top-spec model produces 299hp and can deliver up to 600km of WLTP range, depending on the selected powertrain. The existing petrol, diesel and hybrid-powered Tiguan will continue alongside the new electric model.
Volkswagen ID. Tiguan EV: Design
The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan gets a more conventional SUV design compared with the crossover-like shape of the ID.4 and ID.5. It follows Volkswagen’s new “Pure Positive” design language with a strong front-end appearance and clean body lines.
The front features sleek LED headlights, connected daytime running lights and an illuminated Volkswagen logo integrated into a black panel. The bumper also gets air curtains and a lower air intake.
From the side, the SUV gets black wheel-arch cladding, aerodynamic alloy wheels and pull-type door handles. At the rear, wraparound LED tail-lamps connect across the tailgate and surround an illuminated Volkswagen badge. The SUV offers 534 litres of boot space and a 32-litre frunk.
Volkswagen ID. Tiguan EV: Powertrain
Volkswagen will offer the ID. Tiguan with two battery options: 58kWh and 77kWh. The entry-level version uses the smaller battery with a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 190hp. The 77kWh battery comes with either rear-wheel drive or 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
The RWD version develops 286hp, while the range-topping AWD version produces 299hp. Volkswagen claims a maximum WLTP range of up to 600km, although the exact range depends on the battery and drivetrain configuration.
The top AWD version can accelerate from 0-100kmph in around 6.3 seconds. The ID. Tiguan can also tow up to 2,000kg with the larger battery.
Volkswagen ID. Tiguan EV: Cabin
The ID. Tiguan gets a modern cabin with a layered dashboard and an all-black theme with silver accents. Volkswagen has focused on improving usability by bringing back physical buttons for important functions.
The dashboard features a 10-inch digital instrument display, a 15-inch central touchscreen and, on selected versions, a 12-inch passenger display. The SUV also offers powered front seats with memory, ventilation and massage functions, depending on the variant.
Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charging, connected-car technology, Harman Kardon audio and an ADAS package. Volkswagen will offer the electric SUV in Trend, Life, Style and R-Line trims.

Volkswagen ID. Tiguan EV: Price and Rivals
The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan will go on sale in Europe in early 2027. European prices start at around EUR 42,695, which translates to roughly Rs. 46.30 lakh before taxes and other market-specific costs. Volkswagen has not confirmed an India launch or India-specific pricing yet.
The electric SUV will compete with models such as the Tesla Model Y and Skoda Enyaq in international markets. Its combination of a conventional SUV design, up to 299hp, 600km claimed WLTP range and 77kWh battery could make it an important model in Volkswagen’s global EV strategy.
